Preschool Update

“Ring, ring, ring the bells, Ring them loud and clear, To tell the children everywhere That Christmas time is near.” This week, students in our Outdoor Classroom are talking about sounds of the Christmas season. The teachers took them to visit Ms. Virkler (a.k.a. Liz, a.k.a. Joey’s mom) in the sanctuary. She shared with them musical instruments and sounds woven into the Christmas story. The angels’ wings might sound like small chimes. The arrival of the king may include sounds like the trombone that Joey’s mom played as the children marched. Liz invited the children to play drums and bells and Chris Cook also shared sounds of the organ and demonstrated how the air moves through the organ pipes and a variety of musical sounds. What a great gift for these children. They talked excitedly about it with their parents as they left the preschool gate. Special thanks to Liz and Chris for sharing their gifts and the gift of music.
