The church and community response providing household goods for Afghan refugees was AMAZING! The amount of sheets and blankets, dishes, pots and pans, countertop appliances and other household furnishings filled 3 SUVs, 3 pickup trucks, 2 Vans, and 1 very large U-Haul truck.Thank you to Corey Buckner, Jill Emery, and Bob Christiansen (who was recruited in the parking lot) for the use of their trucks and delivering their load. Thanks also to Craig Riddle for picking up, helping to load, and driving the U-Haul truck. This event was such a wonderful outpouring of love for those newly arrived and being helped in their resettlement by the Alliance for African Assistance. The Alliance is currently helping 50 families process paperwork, getting children in schools, and resettling in San Diego. They have been asked to assist 1000 families by the end of 2022. There will continue to be a need for household goods, toys, small carpets, and tea pots according to Tracy at their storefront facility. If you bring it to church … we will get it there.
